NSPWFR WHEELOCK RED PLATE FIRE GRILL . The Wheelock Series NS Horn Strobe Appliances are designed for indoor, wall and ceiling mount applications. The Series NH Horn and the horn portion of the Series NS include a selectable continuous horn tone or temporal pattern (Code 3) with selectable dBA settings of 90 or 95 dBA. Strobe options include 15/75cd or Wheelock’s Multi-Candela strobe with field selectable candela settings of 15/30/75/ 110cd. These versatile Horn Strobe Appliances may be synchronized when used in conjunction with the Wheelock SM or DSM Sync Modules or a Power Supply with the Wheelock patented Sync Protocol. Additionally, the audible may be silenced while maintaining strobe activation. All models of the Series NS and NH are designed for maximum performance, reliability and cost-effectiveness while meeting or exceeding the latest requirements of NFPA 72/ ANSI 117.1/UFC and UL Standards 1971 and 464 as well as meeting ADA requirements concerning photosensitive epilepsy.

In 1994, Wheelock discontinued this series, because their low-intensity strobes did not meet the new light distribution requirements of the ADA. The 31T is still in production today for general signaling purposes. The Series MT (Multi-tone) was introduced in 1993. It featured eight different tones including Continuous Horn, Code-3 Horn, March Time Horn, Code-3 Tone, Siren, Slow Whoop, Hi-Lo, and Bell. These could be set using DIP switches on the back of the horn. However, most of the tones did not grab the attention of bystanders. The most commonly used tones were Continuous Horn, Code-3 Horn, and March Time Horn. The MT has seen different strobe types over time, including translucent vertical strobes, transparent vertical strobes, and transparent horizontal strobes. The transparent horizontal strobe design was introduced in the early 2000s, and is still used to this day.
