Chattanooga is a city in Hamilton County, Tennessee. The current estimated population is 171,279. What is now Chattanooga was once a part of the Cherokee Nation. In 1838 Native Americans were forced to move out of the area to land west of Arkansas. After the Cherokee tribe was moved out of the area, Chattanooga was incorporated as a city in 1839.
