Uniview's claims of accurate measurements with hats/hoods and masks on are their most concerning claim. With most of the face obscured, this is fundamentally more likely to produce inaccurate measurements or be easily avoided compared to others, especially those requiring subjects to stop and remain still for screening.
Screening System Overview
Uniview's thermal measurement system consists of a dual thermal/visible camera (384x288 resolution, 50mK NETD) and blackbody, very similar to Dahua, Hikvision, and Sunell's options.
The main model of screening camera currently, the UNV-TIC600. The main differences between the two are housing, visible camera resolutions (1080p in TIC600), and measurement distance, discussed below. Thermal imager specs and accuracy claims are the same in both models.
Screening is performed using Uniview's PC client. Uniview does not claim the cameras are ONVIF conformant, nor are they listed by ONVIF, but they are compatible with Uniview's NVRs.
Measurement Distance
The TIC600's measurement distance is specified at 3-10m (~10'-33'), using a 25° thermal angle of view. By contrast, the TIC500 uses a wider 50.8° AoV, but measurement range of 2-3m (~6.5-10').
Blackbody Required / Included
Uniview requires a blackbody calibrator for measurement, similar to most other systems we have examined. The blackbody is included in the TIC600 measurement kit.
