In this guide, we will show you how to download and configure the EZView app for your iPhone or iPad and configure the app to connect to your UniView NVR.
Step 1: From within the App Store on your iPhone or iPad, search for “EZView” and download the free app.
Step 2: Once the app has been downloaded, you can either open it from within the AppStore, or find the app on your Home Screen and launch it.
Step 3: If it is your first time launching the app, you may receive a message to allow notifications and also a startup screen with features listed about the app. Once you have navigated past all of those, make sure to tap on the Menu button on the top left. You may also see the”Live View” screen as shown to the left, where you can also tap on the Menu button to bring up the side menu.
Step 5: At this step, you will need to get into the Main Menu of your DVR. This can be accomplished by using your mouse and clicking anywhere on the screen with the right mouse button and then choosing Menu.
Step 6: Choose the username admin, if it hasn’t already been selected for you. Enter in the password for the admin account. The default password for the admin account is123456. If you have modified the password for the admin account or are using another admin-level account, you can cycle through the on-screen keyboard by clicking on the button highlighted in the picture to the left, which will show keys for upper and lower case letters. After you have entered in the password, click on the Login button to access the main menu. At this time, if you are still using the default password, you may be prompted to change the password. It is always a good security practice to change the default password. You can either cancel the password change for now or choose to modify the password. Follow the on-screen instructions and make sure to document your new password.
Step 7: Now, from within the menu, make sure the System icon is selected from the far left. Then select the Network subcategory and then make sure you are in the Basic tab section. Please refer to the image to make sure you are in the correct section of the menu.
Step 8: In the Network menu, you should see tabs at the top of the menu. We will need to navigate to the P2P section to enable our cloud DDNS service so that we can always have a remote connection available to the NVR.
Step 9: Once in the P2P menu, we will need to make sure to check the box next to “Enable P2P” and then click on the Apply button. After it has saved the settings you made, click on the Back button to exit to the normal live view screen. Now enter back into the Menu and navigate back to the Network->P2P menu and you should now see that the service is active and online. If so, then stay within this menu for the next steps.
Step 10: From within the Devices menu in the EZView App, click on the plus sign on the top right corner of the screen and then from the drop-down menu, tap on Scan.
Step 11: Should the app ask you to allow access to your camera, tap on OK to allow the EZView app to use your phone or tablet’s camera to scan the QR code that is on your DVR’s screen currently.
Step 12: Once the QR code is successfully scanned, you will now see the following page. If you have not created a P2P account already within the EZView app, tap on the Sign Up text, otherwise enter in your username and password and skip to Step 16.
Step 13: To continue to sign up for the P2P service, you will need to enter in an email address and then tap on the Verify button. At this time, the system is going to send a verification code to the email you entered and you will have around 60 seconds to enter in the code and choose a password, otherwise you will need to re-send the verify code if the 60 seconds run out.
Step 14: After checking your email, enter in the verification code in the field next to where the Verify button once was, which should now display a counter. Also fill in the password field with the password you have chosen to use for this account.
Step 15: After you have filled in the verification code and password fields, make sure to check the indicator next to the Service Agreement and then tap on the Sign Up button.
Step 16: At the following screen, the Register Code / Serial Number of the NVR should be read in from the QR code. At this moment, you will need to enter in any name in the Name field that will help you remember what NVR you are connecting to.
Step 17: Now that you have all fields filled out, you should now be able to tap on the “Start Live View” button and the EZView app will start to try connecting to your NVR.
Step 18: If successfully connected, you should start seeing your camera streams show up on the screen. At this moment, you can exit any of the menus on your NVR by clicking on the right mouse button until you are back at the live view screen.
