It's easy to install. This card simply plugs into a PCI slot on the back of your computer. Then you can connect all of your cameras to it. Once your cameras are hooked up, just install the software and you are ready to record and view your cameras. Plus when you purchase your card from us you get FREE Lifetime Toll-Free Technical Support too!

Step 1: Unpack
In this example we show the GeoVision kit which is ideal for home or a small to large business which requires between 1 and 16 cameras.

A typical kit includes a GeoVision PCI DVR card, additional backplane adapters, security cameras, mounting brackets, cables, power supply units (if purchased) and the GeoVision software CD with the latest version available.

Step 2: Installing the GeoVision card
To install the GeoVision card, turn off your PC at the main socket and remove the outer casing. Find a free PCI slot and insert the GeoVision card.

There is a connector cable to plug-in to the reset switch on the motherboard. This is used by the WatchDog facility in the GeoVision software to automatically reboot your PC if it crashes or hangs due to any hardware fault.

Step 3: Connecting your cameras to Power adapters
and GeoVision card.

To connect your cameras to the Power supply and GeoVison card you will need to use BNC cables (Figure 3-1). *Note:You should have one bundle of BNC cables per camera.

Connect your camera to the BNC cable (Figure 3-2 & Figure 3-3)

Next, Connect the opposite ends of the BNC cable to the the Power adapter and the back of the GeoVision card (Figure 3-4 & Figure 3-5)

Step 4: Mounting the cameras
All of our cameras are supplied with mounting brackets. You just fix the bracket with the screws and raw plug supplied to a suitable location on a wall or ceiling. If you are mounting the camera externally make sure you protect any cable joins from the weather by covering them with a waterproof case or joining the cables inside the building.

Step 5: Where to install cameras
We offer a range of different security cameras for different requirements. The bullet camera illustrated opposite can used internally or externally and is completely weatherproof. Different lenses are available for these cameras, depending on the field of view you require.

Step 6: Installing the software
Insert the GeoVision CD into your CD drive and choose the main installation program. Follow the prompts to configure your cameras and setup the recording and monitoring options with internet remote view.

How do I choose the right card for a particular system?

Geovision breaks their product line down by two things.

Channels: This is how many cameras can be captured and recorded by the DVR card. Total frames per card divided by the number of channels/cameras that are installed.

Frames Per Second: This is the total number of frames per second that the card can capture.
Slow:1-4 fps - Slower than Time Lapse Video
OK: 5-9 fps - Time Lapse Video
Good:10-15 fps - Good Motion Video
Better:16-29 fps - Near Full Motion Video
Best: 30 fps - Full Motion Video

Choose a card that has enough video inputs to cover the maximum number of cameras you need to use. Computer/Cameras not included.

For example: The GV-1240 card can record a total of 240 fps. That means that if you are use up to 8 cameras, then you will record 30 images per second per camera. If you use 16 cameras, then you record at 15 fps each (240 divided by 16).

How to Add IP Cameras to GeoVision

1. Within the MultiCam software, navigate to Configure -> System Configure -> IP Camera Install.

2. Find the button labeled IP Device Utility to start the application.

3. IP Device Utility will search for IP cameras on the network. Then click on the General Settings tab to see a list of recognized cameras on your network. If you don't see the proper amount of cameras listed here, make sure all data and/or power cables are securely connected.

4. Under this tab, you will see the camera models, MAC addresses and firmware versions listed. You can see in the picture below that the cameras found all have the default IP address of 192.168.0.10. We need to change/assign different IP addresses for each camera on the network in order for proper function of the software. The easiest way to do this is to click on the button labeled Auto Set IP Address (highlighted in red). This will automatically assign sequential IP addresses for each of the cameras, based on your current network setup.

5. After clicking the button, you should see the dialog box asking for User name and password. Use the default username/password of admin/admin. Click Configure and you should then see a dialogue box warning that it will assign IP addresses to all cameras. If you want to continue, press Yes and you should see then see a progress bar detailing what is happening.

6. If successful, you should see listed the same IP cameras, but with new sequential IP addresses. If not, repeat steps 4 and 5. After reviewing this window, close the window to return back to the IP Camera Install window.

7. From the IP Camera Install window, click on Scan Camera to open the utility to scan for cameras to add. In the new window that opens, start the scan by clicking on the button labeled Start Scan. You should then see a progress bar for the scanning process.

8. To add each camera listed in the window, you must double-click on the name of the camera to enter in a query mode where the program will ask the camera what resolution it supports.

9. Enter in the default user name and password (admin/admin) for the camera.

10. Within this window, the camera is automatically queried for available resolutions. As you can see in the window below, it has been detected under Codec Type and automatically filled in. Click Apply to add the camera into the main IP Camera Install window. Repeat steps 8-10 for each camera. Close the Scan Camera window when finished with all cameras.

11. Back in the main IP Camera Install window is the last step. For each camera, you can right click on the name of the camera and a menu should appear. From within this menu, you must choose the position/window you want the IP camera assigned to. It will be under the Display Position menu choice. Repeat this for each camera and when finished, click on OK and your IP cameras should be properly installed.
