What is HD-TVI?

HD-TVI is the latest update in surveillance technology. It stands for High Definition Transport Video Interface. This new technology rivals that of Network IP and HD-SDI systems without costing nearly as much. Older CCTV systems are limited to 960h video resolution which is about 960×480 pixels. HD-TVI systems have a resolution up to 1080p which is 1920×1080 pixels. It is also capable of 720p or 1280×720 pixels. Better resolution makes identification of faces, cars and other details easier. Also unlike CCTV and HD-SDI systems, HD-TVI needs only one cable for video, audio and pan/tilt/zoom. CCTV and HD-SDI systems require multiple cables.

If you have an existing CCTV system in place, you don’t have to replace the whole thing. Simply add in HD-TVI surveillance cameras in important areas such as entrances or heavily trafficked areas. TVI can also be great entry level solutions for security novices because they are easy to use and don’t require a lot of technical knowledge.

There is no need for compression processing with HD-TVI as it is able to maintain good video quality without it. This uncompressed format is able to be transmitted over longer distances than Network IP systems. While Network IP can only transmit video up to 333 feet, HD-TVI can transmit video up to 1600 feet. The Auto Signal Compensation feature ensures that there is an extremely low signal distortion over long distances.

While network IP systems are a network device in themselves, HD-TVI systems need a video recorder but still cost less than Network IP. HD-TVI must be used with an HD-TVI DVR and will not work with a pre-existing DVR. The HD-TVI DVRs cost about the same as a standard CCTV DVR and the system can also be powered the same way as CCTV with either 12V DC or 24V AC power.

WorldEyeCam offers pre-made TVI kits for our customers that come with TVI DVRs, security cameras and cables. We have everything you need to start recording high definition surveillance footage today. If you are looking for a camera system with high resolution but don’t want to spend a lot of money then the HD-TVI system is the perfect choice. Existing CCTV systems can be easily upgraded to HD-TVI without having to replace the existing cable infrastructure. With HD-TVI systems you will be getting a resolution that rivals IP and HD-SDI systems, a longer transmission range and fewer cables for about the same cost as a CCTV system.
