The service industry is one of the largest segments in business today. Whether we realize it or not, we depend on the services provided by this large sector on a daily basis – from dry cleaners, to restaurants, to mechanics and everything in between. This is why security cameras are a key component to help protect the millions of service oriented businesses that are operational today. A properly installed CCTV setup in a service type of business helps deter crimes such as theft, vandalism and violent crimes.

Companies dedicated to customer service have relied on video security cameras and CCTV systems for decades. With technological advances in video analytics, wireless configurations and Video IP, surveillance cameras are becoming the standard in service related industries. Analog security cameras, once stationary devices set in a position at the building they protected have now been set free with IP video cameras. These IP video cameras permit the footage to be transmitted to anywhere in the world (even cell phones) with the power of the internet. This flexibility gives users several options in configuring their systems and handling the most pressing security concerns. IP network cameras come in all shapes and sizes.

Go ahead and read through our service industry pages to see how security camera surveillance can benefit businesses in the service industry. If you don’t see your industry just sends an email to support@worldeyecam.com and we will make sure to have our specialists write up an article for our ever growing information database.

For any person looking forward to installing security cameras in their premises, one of the first questions that appear in their minds is the question about the cameras installed. Is an IP camera a better choice over the Analog cameras, or vice versa? Deciding upon the analog cameras and the IP cameras is not at all an easy task. Hence, you need to seriously think over about their advantages and disadvantages so as to make your decision perfectly.

Analog cameras

Analog cameras are a great choice as they convert video signals into the format which can be used by televisions, receivers, etc. The system can transfer signals through their wired connections (Cat-5 cables) as well as the wireless systems. The cameras are available in a wider variety of designs, including the unique PTZ cameras and hence help in making it easier for you to increase security in your premises. The analog cameras allow you to mix match camera equipments thus saving a lot of money during their repairing. And best of all, these cameras cost lower than the IP cameras.

IP cameras

Also called as the IP network cameras, these cameras digitize all video signals with the help of an encoder that also includes a functional web server. This makes the camera function as a network device that hence allows you to see the captured images from your local network and also from the web browser using the internet. The camera can transmit signals through its wireless and wired connections. The IP cameras also have the benefit of using hubs, switches, routers, etc. that further help in allowing the Cat-5 network spread wider to greater ranges.

The IP cameras are designed with an in-built encryption that hence provides a more secured network. Moreover, you can also take the advantage of any currently existing network in your house thus making your installation easier. However, these cameras cost higher than the other camera models.

Wed Jul 28, 2010

TORONTO – Archeologists in Canada have found a ship abandoned more than 150 years ago in the quest for the fabled Northwest Passage and which was lost in the search for the doomed expedition of Sir John Franklin, the leader of the team said Wednesday.
Marc-Andre Bernier, Parks Canada’s lead of underwater archaeology, said the HMS Investigator, abandoned in the ice in 1853, was found, with the help of CCTV equipment such as: http://www.worldeyecam.com/store/security-cameras/, in shallow water in Mercy Bay along the northern coast of Banks Island in Canada’s western Arctic.
“The ship is standing upright in very good condition. It’s standing in about 11 meters (36 feet) of water,” he said. “This is definitely of the utmost importance. This is the ship that sailed the last leg of the Northwest Passage.”
The Investigator was one of several American and British ships sent out to search for the HMS Erebus and the Terror, vessels commanded by Franklin in his ill-fated search for the Northwest Passage in 1845.
Captained by Robert McClure, the Investigator sailed in these treacherous waters in 1850. That year, McClure sailed the Investigator into the strait that now bears his name and realized that he was in the final leg of the Northwest Passage.
But before he could sail into the Beaufort Sea, the ship was blocked by pack ice and forced to winter-over in Prince of Wales Strait along the east coast of Banks Island.
The following summer, McClure tried again to sail to the end of the Passage, but was again blocked by ice. He steered the ship and crew into a large bay on the island’s north coast he called the Bay of Mercy.
There they were to remain until 1853, when they were rescued by the crew of the HMS Resolute. The Investigator was abandoned.
“This is actually a human history,” said Bernier. “Not only a history of the Passage, but the history of a crew of 60 men who had to overwinter three times in the Arctic not knowing if they were going to survive.”
The Parks Canada team arrived at Mercy Bay on July 22 with the task of discovering the lost ships. Three days later, the ice on the bay cleared enough that researchers were able to deploy side-scanning sonar from a small inflatable boat over the site where they believed the wooden ship had eventually sunk. The team also utilized IP Cameras to scan the water throughout the process: http://www.worldeyecam.com/store/network-ip-cameras/. Within 15 minutes, the Investigator was found.
“The ship had not moved too much from where it was abandoned,” said Bernier.
The masts and rigging have long been sheared off by ice and weather. But the icy waters of the McClure Strait has preserved the vessel in remarkably good condition.
“It’s incredible,” said Prentice from Mercy Bay. “You’re actually able to peer down into the water and see not only the outline of the ship but actually the individual timbers. Thankfully, all of the footage was caught, using security camera kits and DVRs, just like Worldeyecam’s high-quality systems found here: http://www.worldeyecam.com/store/video-recorders/
Archaeologists have also uncovered artifacts on land left behind by the stranded sailors, who unloaded everything before abandoning the Investigator.
The graves of three sailors thought to have died of scurvy have been marked off and will be left undisturbed, said Bernier.
Bernier said the next step will be to send down a remote controlled video camera to get actual pictures of the wreck. The use of these high quality cameras, is the key to the project: http://www.worldeyecam.com/store/pro-box-c-mount-cameras/ There are no plans to bring it to the surface and all legal steps will be taken to ensure the site remains protected.
Bernier also said the team will use similar technology to find the Erebus and Terror.

Sports most famous owner of the New York Yankees, has died.
The New York Daily News, citing a Yankees team source, said Steinbrenner died at about 6:30 a.m. ET today in Florida after suffering a massive heart attack last night. This confirmation was made through security cameras and surveillance equipment at the hospital: http://www.worldeyecam.com
A family statement said: “It is with profound sadness that the family of George M. Steinbrenner III announces his passing. He passed away this morning in Tampa, Fla., at age 80.”
WABC reported Steinbrenner suffered a massive heart attack last night and was rushed to St. Joseph’s hospital in Tampa. The security equipment, which was purchased from http://www.worldeyecam.com/store/ was able to confirm this.
Steinbrenner last week told the AP he was “feeling good” after spending a couple hours in his office at the Yankees’ spring training complex.
During Steinbrenner’s rocky ownership, the Yankees have won 11 pennants and seven World Series. The Yankees have the highest winning percentage of any baseball team, since Steinbrenner’s purchase of the team in the early 70s.
When Steinbrenner celebrated his 80th birthday on July 4 at his home in Tampa, he said in a press release through his spokesman Howard J. Rubenstein:
“I want to thank everyone who has sent their good wishes. I am very fortunate to have the love and support of a great family and many, many friends. The Yankees and their fans are a large part of what keeps me going. It means a lot. And I remind everyone that the Fourth of July is also the birthday of our country. We are all lucky to be Americans.” Just as we are fortunate to have the best surveillance equipment and technology on the CCTV market: http://www.worldeyecam.com/store/security-cameras/
Steinbrenner will be remembered for many things. Among them:
He hired — and fired — Billy Martin for five separate managerial stints. He also made a Miller Lite commercial with his favorite manager.
His five-year, $3 million contract with Reggie Jackson in 1977 ushered in the era of big-time free agency money, and proved worth it when Jackson went on to earn the name of Mr. October. Many critics site this as the beginning of the end for rising salaries of sports athletes.
During the 1981 World Series Steinbrenner contended he had broken his hand while punching out two abusive Dodgers fans. Those alleged fans never were found, and it was widely suspected that The Boss had injured himself by punching an elevator wall because he was angry about a Yankees loss.
When Dave Winfield failed to produce significantly for the Yankees, Steinbrenner belittled him as Mr. May. In 1990 he was suspended for life — but later reinstated — for hiring someone to dig up dirt on Winfield.
His failing health became obvious at the 2008 All-Star game at Yankee Stadium, when Steinbrenner was driven onto the field in a golf cart. He met with former players and broke into tears. Later that year, he gave control of the team to his sons. Keep an eye on your world: http://www.worldeyecam.com

Spain finally has won their first World Cup Trophy.
However, the way they won was distasteful.
The game wasn’t as bad as Italy’s win over France four years ago, when the team who was clearly better lost. It was, however, marred by the same officiating controversy that has eked its way into virtually every critical game of 2010.
After this, FIFA owes Holland, and the world, a serious apology.
Watching the game go along, it was difficult to know what the absolute defining moments would be. Once the end came along, it became very easy to see 120 minutes of drama boiled down to three inexplicable calls.
To be fair, Howard Webb had his hands full as the designated decider from the time the game started. There were a lot of deserved cards, and he never seemed to stop giving them.
That will be the end of the fairness, because when it came down to the critical decisions he made some of the worst blunders of the Cup.
In their defense, Spaid did look like the best team on the pitch.
The first absurd call came on a beautiful break away by the speedy Arjen Robben in the 62nd minute, who was essentially tackled from behind by Carles Puyol. It was a clear goal scoring opportunity.
As Puyol’s legs wrapped up around Robben, causing a clear stutter in his step, Robben lost pace and control of the ball at the top of the opposing box; Puyol made no contact with the ball.
By the time Robben regained possession, Spanish keeper Iker Casillas had closed the gap and was able to wrap up the ball right at the 18. Would CCTV cameras help the officials make a better call here? Reviewing the footage with: http://www.worldeyecam.com/store/security-cameras/
The only card given on the play was to Robben, who angrily chastised Webb for his blunder. One can only assume the comments made involved some line about laser corrective surgery for the official’s eyesight.
Based upon the understood rules of the game, 99 percent of the time such an act from Puyol (who already had a yellow card) would have resulted in, at the very least, a yellow card. Another 50 percent of the time the officials would have dealt out the red, as it was a tackle from behind on a goal scoring opportunity.
In this circumstance, Webb did nothing; he didn’t even call a free kick.
There is no doubt that Puyol should have been sent off at that point in the game, and that would have given Holland the clear advantage for the remainder.
The second critical call came when Holland’s defender, John Heitinga, was sent off deep in the 19th minute of extra time.
He was given a second yellow card and expelled on a play that was almost identical to the play Puyol made on Robben previously. Only in this particular case, it looked like a rather talented dive by the Spanish side.
They were also caught in a clear dive minutes thereafter on the same end by international television cameras. Cameras never make a mistake and capture exactly what happened. The officials need to be equipped with the tools necessary to review calls and be able to correct their mistakes. That’s why high quality products that could help the largest event in worldwide history, could be found here: http://www.worldeyecam.com/store/
The favorable call for Spain, which revealed a potentially unintentional bias in officiating, knocked Holland down to 10 players and eventually doomed them seven minutes later.
In the 115th, right before the Spanish goal, the third and final critical call occurred. One of Holland’s players was inside of the Spanish box making a play for a cross when he was taken out from both sides by two Spanish defenders on a vicious foul.
The play, which deserved attention from Howard Webb, again went uncalled. And in a twist of irony, the resulting Spanish counter attack led to the only goal of the game.
Those three critical plays, despite the lack of intent in the referee’s blunder, ended up defining what was a rather slow and at times disappointing World Cup final.
While many are claiming Spain’s win was clear, what they should be claiming is that Spain’s dominance as the better team was clear.
The game and the officiating bounced their way off of fortuitous circumstances.
Holland has every right to complain about the way Howard Webb called the match. If those three calls had been made correctly, there is a good chance the game would have swung the other way.
Even if one of them had been made correctly, the result would have been different.
But it would make sense, in a cup that has been defined by officiating, that the biggest game on this planet, so important as a spectacle that it is only held once every four years, was also made questionable by Howard Webb.
The ending to the tournament feels somewhat illegitimate for the second time in a row to the unbiased observer.
They’ll be celebrating in Barcelona well into the night. Someone might want to make sure to buy Webb a drink or two. For all your security needs, Worldeyecam, your eye on the world: http://www.worldeyecam.com

With military personnel constantly being deployed, moved or stationed in different locations, the need for CCTV Surveillance and Security Cameras has been exponentially growing. Take Fort Bragg, in North Carolina for example. Some Army wives say crime on Fort Bragg has them scared.

Military police on post responded to about 400 crime calls from April to June of last year, and that number jumped to about 600 between July and September of the same year. The numbers don’t include calls for damage to or theft of government property.

Thefts showed the biggest spike, going from 39 last spring to 211 last summer and 149 last fall. The number of reported assaults and domestic calls remained stable during the three quarters of statistics, at about 80 assaults and 40 domestic calls each period.

“I don’t feel safe,” said Jennifer Brown, whose garage was broken into while she was home alone with her children. “I’m afraid to let (the children) out in my fenced-in back yard right now because I don’t know what’s going to happen. I don’t know who’s walking around.”

Some of Brown’s neighbors, who declined to speak publicly, also have become crime victims. One had a window broken, another had a back door kicked in, another moved out after having a bike and portable global-positioning satellite system stolen and a fourth came home to find a burglar in her garage.

The husbands of some of the neighbors are deployed overseas, she said.

Also, three registered sex offenders also live on post, at least one of whom is a soldier, and Brown said she and her neighbors have been told a gang operates in the area.

“When you move on post, you’re expecting to have a heightened level of security. You’re expecting your family will be a little safer than if you’re living out in the community, but that’s not happening,” Brown said.

Military police acknowledge theft is the biggest crime problem they face, something that can be deterred with a quality surveillance system, that can be found here: http://www.worldeyecam.com/store/security-cameras/

By comparison, Fayetteville police handled 13,480 property crimes last year and 1,630 violent crimes.

Military police aren’t sure if soldiers are to blame for the crime on Fort Bragg, or whether people from the outside are coming on post. Garrity said.

“It’s not a fortress. There are ways to come onto Fort Bragg,” he said.

That fact alarms Brown, who said the “gated community” of an Army post doesn’t seem to deter criminals.

“There are armed guards at every entrance, but it’s not that hard to get on post,” she said.

MPs have stepped up patrols in some neighborhoods on Fort Bragg, and they’re revamping neighborhood watches and issuing fliers to residents when they notice trouble spots, Garrity said. Crimes also are routinely reported in Paraglide, the post newspaper, to make residents more aware of what’s happening, he said.

In recent years the technology has changed a lot of things in the world we live. Traffic lights have not been able to stay immune from it. Well, thanks to advanced technology cameras which we use today in the major intersections all around the country.

The traffic cameras are mounted on top of the traffic light pole. They are used to monitor speed, time, date of the car driving on the road. The key role for this is to identify cars and drivers who break red light signals and also regulating the traffic on the road. This new advancement in the traffic monitor and controlling system has shown a lot of progress and is hence adopted quickly worldwide. However every coin has two sides and these traffic cameras are no exception. These traffic cameras have received their due criticism as well. So, let’s have a look at the pros and cons about these traffic cameras.

It has been found through research that there has been a reduction in accidents in all the areas where these cameras are installed. Moreover, fewer drivers break the red light as they are aware of the camera and no driver usually wishes to get a ticket for crossing the red light. This system is also considered to have very less maintenance charges and hence the returns are better as compared to the low investments made in their installations. Looking at the benefits, it’s difficult to believe that this system has flaws.

Several officials believe that authorities have become dependent on this system and this may affect the future of road rules. Furthermore, due to these camera systems there is a probability that a driver will abruptly stop at the red light to avoid any risk which may result to an accident at the rare end. Many also believe that it is a system installed not to control traffic but only to make money. These all criticism has valid proof to their acquisitions and hence clearly shows that it is not a perfect system.

The traffic cameras are mounted on top of the traffic light poles. They are used to monitor speed, time, date of the car driving on the road. The key role for this is to identify cars and drivers who run red light signals and they also help regulate the traffic on the road.
Several officials believe that authorities have become dependent on this system and this may affect the future of road rules. Furthermore, because of the presence of the security cameras, there is a probability that a driver will abruptly stop at the red light to avoid any risk which may result in a rear end collision. Many also believe that it is a system installed not to control traffic but only to make money. All of these criticisms have valid proof to back their arguments, clearly showing that it is not a perfect system.

We use cameras for several reasons apart from just filming videos. These days, cameras have become very important from the point of view of security. Cameras play an important role in security, be it for your small office, house, building or for an entire country. Its importance as a security device, forces us to use it more often for tracking the criminals responsible for any unfortunate occurrence in the city. The ideal use of a camera is very important and to achieve this, the correct positioning of the camera is a must. We will examine the various points that need to be considered while positioning the cameras in order to utilize their optimum use.

In order to decide the best position for the camera you must temporarily mount the camera in different locations. Now that you have mounted your camera at the different trial locations, view which of these positions provides the clearest picture and covers the maximum area. However, if it is not feasible to mount the cameras in different trial locations, then the best position that will give you the widest coverage with the clearest images is that of the corner of the ceiling. Also, if there is only one entrance or exit, then it should be mounted in such a way that the entry or exit is clearly visible. This is done because any person who comes or goes from the room will have to use the same door and when they do, the camera will capture their image. It is sometimes helpful to use dummy cameras in public places and real cameras hidden in such a way that if a criminal tries to hide him/herself from the dummy camera, they can be seen through the real hidden cameras. Each of the collected images can help while using face recognition systems but this means that a clear view of the face is needed. This can be ensured only by one way: through correct and accurate positioning of the camera.

Cameras are usually used for their security purposes, especially for catching a guilty suspect. With the help of the images captured by these surveillance cameras, they give proof needed to prosecute the criminals. This means that the cameras which we use should have high resolution in order to provide clear shots of all people. If the camera is poor quality and has low resolution, it will become extremely difficult to prove the criminal guilty in a court of law. A high quality camera with good resolution helps its user by getting clear face shots of all people crossing the surveillance area.
It is important to use good quality cameras. Strategic and correct positioning of such cameras will help in avoiding the expense of using them everywhere. The ideal place to mount such cameras is near the entry & exit points of the building. This will ensure that whenever an unknown person enters or leaves the place, the face shot will be clear enough in order to provide evidence in a court of law. It is also important to use different kinds of cameras in varied locations for optimal results. For large areas, wide angle cameras are important. The dome cameras are also an option as they are affordable and are of good quality. Using black and white cameras should be considered as well, as they can provide better pictures with higher resolution, in less light.
In conclusion, this clearly means that having a camera is not good enough for security. Having a good quality, high resolution camera mounted at the correct location is the key to being properly secure.

This piece of writing will help you to understand the correct way to install the CCTV at home for your security. It is important to know the right way to install it as you surely don’t want unnecessary drilled hole in your walls. It is difficult for people to digest the facts of drilling hole in their house but the returns are worth it. To install a security camera the first thing one must know is the correct equipment required for the same and next part will deal with this issue.

In terms of equipment the camera is the first thing one should be sure of what kind of camera needed, in door or at the door looking over the entrance, or any other reason. One should always buy from a certified dealer and make sure you check the quality before confirming. Then the wires are second thing to look at there are two types suggested for this. First Siamese cable which are make of copper and gives amazing quality to your security camera. Second option is that of the popular plug and play ones which are easier to install. If you get these two equipments properly you installation will automatically easy.

Now moving forward to actual installation, one should not refrain from getting dirty while installing. There are four steps, first decide the position for camera, second drill holes high enough to install the camera, third make sure you mounted the camera and connected the wire properly and finally connect the power supply wire appropriately to start. If done properly only thing left is focusing the camera to make sure the picture quality clear to assure proper security. The installation of CCTV will also reduce a lot of your cost for the entire security expense. Hope this will help you to install you security properly.
